SUMMARY
N.e.T is a dual-format platform designed to support emerging and underground artists working in the fashion editorial industry. Through a gig-locating mobile app and a community-based magazine, the project responds to structural issues identified through generative and evaluative research, including closed inner-circle networks, inconsistent income, limited visibility, and the absence of a unified professional space for creative workers.
challenge
Through interviews, literature review, and field observation, I found that emerging editorial artists face closed inner-circle networks, unclear communication, unstable income, and limited ways to present their work professionally. Many rely on friends for gigs, get ghosted by clients, or struggle to organize portfolios across IG and links. These gaps revealed an opportunity to build a unified system that supports networking, gig access, and visibility in a storytelling way.
Outcome
The N.e.T app streamlines the journey from networking to gig matching by offering transparent job details, swipe-based matching, verified artist profiles, messaging, and notifications. It provides artists with a clearer workflow and a more accessible entry point into an industry often shaped by gatekeeping personal connections. Besides the app, the N.e.T Magazine highlights artists’ career paths, cultural backgrounds, home artifacts, and the creative philosophies behind their work. By pairing professional portfolios with storytelling, the magazine increases visibility and strengthens the emotional connection between artists and audiences.
