Key Words
SUMMARY
The fashion industry's hidden layers create discrepancies in the term "size inclusivity," fostering false hope and distorting access for women outside the norm. Brands do not realize that there are inconsistencies within the sizing of garment constructions forming conflicted relationships for women and clothes. These experiences can become unhealthy triggers and be additional motives for the development of psychological disorders. Fashion and Fit, is a digital magazine in which aims to reshape the narrative, challenging standard sizing and advocating transparency. Through personal experiences, we empower women to feel confident and heard.
challenge
Women have long sought inclusivity from the fashion industry beyond limited sizes, they are aiming for body representation and size consideration through ethical practices and transparency. The lack of sizing, inconsistent garment constructions, and narrow perspectives of beauty standards formed feelings of exclusion. Brands need to step up and address these gaps, offer a wider range of sizes catered to diverse bodies. This isn't just about checking boxes; it's about creating a positive relationship between women and their clothing. Women seek empowerment, comfort, and respect from the fashion industry. Fashion and Fit focuses on community building for women supporting their demands, embracing the diverse body shapes and sizes.
Outcome
The focus has been on exploring the intersection of fashion size and body inclusivity. Influenced by my journey towards self-love and body acceptance I was inspired to create a platform where women can feel empowered and confident in their own skin, regardless of societal beauty standards. Through Fashion and Fit, I aimed to reveal the hidden complexities of the fashion industry as there are underlying challenges and issues that need to be addressed and further questioned. These complexities are further explained through 5 core topics showcasing 4 articles contributing towards the advocacy of this movement. Times are changing, fashion is changing, and inclusive sizing is not a trend, it is present in our lives and here to stay.
