UNICEF Automated Search Tool

How can we create an automated search tool that helps UNICEF targets code contributors?

We are imaging an algorithm that works similarly to that of Facebook Ad Manager and scans GitHub users for potential contributors for specific UNICEF projects. It is faster and more convenient. It can also scale up the process and cover more grounds.

With the open source software constantly needing updates and maintenance, it is unable to achieve the human resources it desires. Due to the sheer scale of the project, it is difficult to spread awareness while attracting new contributors.

In order to find more contributors to help the various open source projects, we need to directly reach out to potential contributors. Therefore, we designed a tool that consists of algorithms that is constantly scanning for possible contributors on various coding online community platforms. This tool will be especially helpful towards platforms such as Github or Code Pen. With this aid, UNICEF can reach out to thousands of potential contributors while spreading awareness of DPG with just a click of a button.

Parsons School of Design has offered students innovative approaches to education since its founding in 1896.  Today we’re the only American art and design school within a comprehensive university, The New School, which also houses a rigorous liberal arts college and a progressive performing arts school. Our undergraduate and graduate programs, offered through Parsons’ five schools, immerse students in focused training, interdisciplinary inquiry, and practice-based collaborative learning. Here creators and scholars master established art and design fields and advance emerging ones while studying a range of university disciplines.
