SUMMARY
We developed a strategy to integrate Greenport community into the camera obscura in order to increase awareness and visitor traffic. When the locals are proud and take an interest, there will be more people willing to volunteer, promote, and donate. Long after our project is over, there needs to be a few enthusiastic locals who will care for the camera and its presence in the community.
challenge
We identified the opportunity of integrating community into our solution in increasing awareness for the Camera Obscura within Greenport. Upon completing our research, we recognized Greenport's close-knit community, and how everybody helps one another regarding their businesses. If a community feels ownership over the camera obscura, they will take care of it.
Outcome
We ultimately created a magazine to provide a visual guide to the Greenport Camera Obscura's history, Greenport itself, and the locals involved in its establishment. This addressed the needs of our stakeholders because it increased awareness of the camera among the Greenport community and provided context.
