The feminine gaze promotes equity, freedom of expression, creativity and transcends genders. The trend report explores the underlying meaning of the feminine gaze, highlighting the influences from fashion designers to entertainment. The report proposes three key fashion trend stories for 2024/25 ‘Babydoll Darling’ ‘Sculptural Goddess’ and ‘Ladylike Suiting.’ The feminine gaze has resonated with so many audiences that it is likely to be a defining movement continuing to evolve and transcend, blossoming over time.
challenge
As a researcher and strategist, I was challenged to define the complexities of the feminine gaze; Why at this moment in time is it gaining traction? In what form? How is it being explored? We live in a world where there are endless tragedies and as ‘creatives’ we bring a new source of light. The feminine gaze can be analyzed through these ideals: noticing the unnoticed and finding beauty in unexpected places, envisioning worlds we haven’t yet seen, and honoring the richness of our imagination. The creation of happiness and joy, seen through fashion and storytelling, can be applied to future thinking for the feminine gaze.
Outcome
The feminine gaze will continue to challenge the norm; reimagining what was before and providing opportunities for freedom and creativity. The impact of the feminine gaze can be seen through the success of the fashion designers and entertainment industry who utilize it. The project outcome took the form of a trend report and a video to communicate the exploration and impact of the feminine gaze to wider audiences.
