SUMMARY
At Parsons, we recognized a gap in on-campus availability of tech accessories tailored to student aesthetics and needs. We are trying to integrate technology with school identity into The New Store. We discovered the potential for a tech hub featuring student-designed, limited edition products. This led to the creation of unique items like custom phone cases, chargers, hand-made knitted power bank cases and 3D-printed power bank cases, all showcasing students’ artworks. This project not only fills a market need but also promotes students’ engagement with the school.
challenge
We identified a crucial gap at The New Store: the lack of access to essential tech accessories tailored to the aesthetics of Parsons students. This realization came from observing the existing technology section at the NYU Store and recognized an opportunity to offer something similar yet unique to our school community. Our stakeholders are primarily students. By addressing this, we could create a niche market within the school to promote student engagement with the school store, thereby fostering a stronger sense of community and school spirit through student-designed products.
Outcome
Our project led to the creation of a tech hub at The New Store, offering student-designed and featured tech accessories on-campus. This initiative directly addresses the gap in personalized tech accessories on campus. By offering these unique student-created items, we meet the demand for accessible and aesthetically appealing tech solutions among Parsons students. This integrates their personal artistic expressions into everyday tools and fosters a vibrant community of Parsons students.
