SUMMARY

Our project revitalized The New School's merchandise by combining its rich legacy with modern design trends. We began by analyzing current market demands and community preferences. The conclusion is that TNS's current merchandise may not resonate well with its creative community. We discovered that it is essential to have products that match the latest fashion trends or reflect the school's creative values. Additionally, the Parsons brand is more popular than TNS, making Parsons-branded merchandise more appealing. In our endeavor to conduct research, participate in brainstorming sessions, and continuously refine our design, we have developed a product line that blends tradition with contemporary aesthetics.

challenge

Stakeholders expressed that existing products needed to reflect the innovative spirit of the school or the current fashion sensibilities. The challenge was to create a product line that was both a nod to the past and a step into the future, thereby satisfying a diverse and creatively inclined community. Another hurdle was addressing the disparity in brand recognition between The New School and Parsons, which significantly influenced our strategic decisions.

Outcome

The project resulted in a new line of merchandise that combined The New School's heritage with current fashion trends. Responding to stakeholder demands, the initiative introduced Alumni Tees, Trending Adaptations, and Quoted Merch that reflect the school's legacy and current style preferences. This strategic approach successfully addressed the market gaps and re-engaged the school community.
