SUMMARY
While Parsons students consistently produce exceptional work deserving of public exhibition, limited opportunities hinder their visibility. Our mission is clear: to forge connections between our community and the broader audience of New York City. In partnership with The New Store, we've crafted a solution. A pop-up initiative where students can showcase and sell their unique creations. This endeavor isn't just about exposure; it's about transforming The New Store into a vibrant hub reflective of our community's talent and innovation. Join us in strengthening the store’s role as a creative and cultural landmark within the university and beyond.
challenge
Although a significant portion of Parsons students produce work that merits public exhibition, a disparity exists between the high quality of their creations and the limited opportunities available for showcasing and selling these projects. Our objective is to connect our community with the broader New York City audience by delving into the underlying causes of this discrepancy and devising actionable strategies. This will enable our creators to have exposure and sell in collaboration with The New Store.
Outcome
In partnership with The New Store, we propose the creation of a pop-up initiative where students can exhibit and sell their exceptional work. This initiative will serve as a dynamic platform for students, alumni, and the community to engage with a wider audience, including local residents, tourists, and brand enthusiasts. By leveraging The New Store’s established presence within the University Center and its e-commerce channels, we aim to transform it into a hub that reflects the talent and creativity of The New School community. This approach will not only provide students with much-needed exposure and commercial opportunities but will also strengthen the store’s role as a creative and cultural landmark within the university and beyond.
