SUMMARY
When we first met John Edelman, CEO of Heller after reviewing the brief on enhancing Heller's digital presence, John said “We take modern seriously, and ourselves less so”. That sentence was our “aha” moment. We want people to remember Heller, for who they are, not just what they offer. How can we make the products and brand more relatable? How can we appeal to the younger consumer? Heller is a brand rich in history and legacy with attention to great modern design and innovation– Our campaign amplifies its playful personality.
challenge
Fieldwork, observation, surveys, interviews, and ecosystem analysis pointed us to the following opportunities. While Heller retains high levels of product awareness, there was a noticeable gap in brand awareness. Establishing a strong digital presence for Heller is essential to connect with Gen Z, a large consumer segment with growing purchasing power. Notably, Heller's accessories are more accessible to this demographic compared to its furniture. Furthermore, Heller’s design-focused ethos could be better integrated into promotional materials. And finally, Heller’s brand identity needed to reflect its authentic, playful essence. By addressing these identified gaps and opportunities, Heller could further establish itself in the market.
Outcome
We Take Modern Seriously is a recurring seasonal campaign that reflects the identity of the brand through a unique, playful lens. We Take Modern Seriously means Heller embodies and channels timelessness, innovation, and an authentic personality. We take this seriously– we care and invest 100%. For this campaign, we created engaging, fun imagery, wheatpaste posters, stickers, a playlist, Instagram gifs, and a comprehensive social media plan. We conducted a one-post Instagram takeover on Heller’s account with a 100% increase in average engagement organically. We also connected with boutique hospitality professionals to make connections for Heller to host a campaign activation. This campaign amplifies the personality of Heller.
