SUMMARY
This project explores the role of social media In shaping public opinion. Beginning with an analysis of its reach and influence, we examined platforms' impact on political, social, and cultural conversations.
challenge
We identified several stakeholder needs, gaps, and opportunities in understanding social media’s influence. Users need better media literacy to navigate misinformation and bias. Policymakers face gaps in regulating algorithms and data privacy, highlighting opportunities to implement stricter guidelines for transparency and accountability. Platforms can address the lack of diverse content exposure by improving algorithm design and promoting balanced dialogue. These were identified through case studies, user behavior analysis, and examining ethical concerns.
Outcome
The project evolved into an in-depth analysis and awareness campaign on social media's influence, combining case studies, user behavior insights, and actionable recommendations. This approach directly addresses stakeholder needs by enhancing media literacy, offering tools to identify misinformation, and proposing ethical guidelines for policymakers and platforms.
