SUMMARY
In a world where appearances often dictate perception, the pressure to conform to beauty standards can feel overwhelming. My project addresses the question: How do the dual influences of self-perception and external judgments impact psychological behavior and mental health in relation to beauty norms? Beauty norms, shaped by and societal expectations. These standards have been further amplified by the rise of social media, where curated images and influencer-driven trends dominate our digital spaces. For many, the pursuit of beauty has become a double-edged sword—offering moments of confidence and fostering unrealistic ideals.
challenge
Opportunity: people are seeking a bridge that combines psychological support with slow beauty practices, and a supportive community to promote both mental wellness and self-acceptance. It taps into the increasing awareness of mental health's importance and the demand for holistic solutions in the beauty and wellness space.
Outcome
I created an app - SoulSync. SoulSync reimagines the role of beauty apps, shifting the focus from physical transformation to holistic self-care, and it combines psychological consultation, gamified self-care challenges, and community support to empower users to embrace their natural beauty and build long-term confidence.
