SUMMARY
I started CareStay Hotel with a simple yet powerful mission: to bridge the gap between hospital discharge and home recovery. I saw how patients, like my own grandmother, struggled with inadequate options—either costly hospital stays or insufficient home care. Through research and prototyping, I developed a solution that combines expert medical care with the warmth of a home-like environment. Along the way, I discovered that recovery improves when emotional well-being and family involvement are prioritized. CareStay matters because it offers a dignified, affordable, and holistic recovery experience for patients and their loved ones.
challenge
Through research and stakeholder interviews, I identified that patients often lack affordable, comfortable options for post-hospital recovery. Families face the burden of caregiving without adequate support, while hospitals struggle with bed shortages and high readmission rates. This gap revealed an opportunity for a facility that combines medical care with home-like comfort, easing stress for both families and healthcare systems. Addressing these needs could provide a much-needed alternative for recovery.
Outcome
CareStay Hotel was designed as a recovery facility offering 24/7 medical supervision, personalized care plans, and family-friendly spaces. The project directly addresses stakeholder needs by reducing healthcare costs, providing holistic recovery solutions, and supporting families with seamless updates and involvement. This unique model bridges a critical market gap, offering both practical and emotional support for patients and caregivers.
