SUMMARY

Periods are tough for everyone, period. But for young girls they can be especially overwhelming, confusing, and even frightening. And due to the lack of adequate representation and support for young girls in the menstruation care market, these experiences are made even more difficult. That’s why at Luna June, we are making sure to pay extra attention. In every Luna June package, we make sure to present girls with a messages of affirmation and empowerment, and helpful tips or information- because our mission is to remind young girls that they’re strong, capable, and never alone on this journey.

challenge

Beginning this project, it was immediately apparent to me that there was a serious lack of accessible and appealing products for young girls in the menstruation care market. Between the unapproachable and clinical appearance of packaging, and the lack of representation for young girls in campaigns and advertisements; I learned through observational research, interviews, and surveys that there was a disconnect between girls ages 9-14 and the products that were meant to serve them. I learned that young girls were missing the acknowledgment, comfort, and knowledge that they need to confidently navigate their period journeys.

Outcome

With relatable messaging, stylish youthful packaging, and empowering resources that turn an intimidating topic into something not just manageable, but celebratory; Luna June is a teen & tween specific pad brand that is the answer to this gap in the period care market. Luna June understands the emotional desire for comfort and clarity that so many girls have during this vulnerable stage in their life, making it not just another period product—but a movement toward confidence, education, and empowerment for a new generation of girls. By blending functionality with purpose, Luna June redefines what it means to be a period brand.
