SUMMARY
This research explores the transformative power of play in enhancing the lives of older adults. Recognizing that play extends beyond childhood, this project investigates how play can improve cognitive function, physical health, and social well-being in later life. By examining existing research, interviewing seniors, and analyzing the current market for age-appropriate games and activities, this project aims to identify key opportunities to create engaging and accessible play experiences that foster a vibrant and fulfilling life for older adults
challenge
The aging population faces challenges such as cognitive decline, physical limitations, and social isolation. Many existing games and activities are not designed to meet the unique needs and interests of older adults. This project identified a gap in the market for engaging and accessible play experiences that cater specifically to the needs and desires of seniors.
Outcome
The project culminated in a pitch deck geared towards toy and game developers. These recommendations include: 1) Developing games and toys that address specific cognitive and physical challenges faced by older adults. 2) Creating inclusive and creative marketing and branding for toys and games to appeal to the market looking for seniors. 3) Integrating play into the dialogue around senior care to improve well-being and quality of life.
