SUMMARY
SmartOnboard is a redesigned onboarding experience tailored for mobile-first investors. Traditional processes are often slow and complicated, creating barriers for beginners. I led the project from in-depth user research to UX strategy and mobile prototyping—focusing on how to simplify the journey. This prototype allows users to open an account in under 3 minutes by answering just a few simple questions. An AI assistant then provides personalized recommendations and helps users manage their financial goals in real time. SmartOnboard makes investing faster, more intuitive, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
challenge
Many first-time investors, especially younger and mobile-first users, feel overwhelmed by slow, complex onboarding flows and inaccessible financial language. Through research and user interviews, I identified a clear need for a simplified, mobile-optimized experience that lowers barriers to entry. The opportunity was to reimagine onboarding not as a form, but as a guided conversation, making financial tools approachable, fast, and goal-oriented from the very first tap.
Outcome
The final outcome is a mobile and desktop prototype that delivers a fast, intuitive, and goal-based onboarding experience. Users can open an account in under 3 minutes by answering simple, user-friendly questions, receive real-time investment guidance from an AI assistant, and manage both savings goals and stock portfolios. This directly addresses users’ struggles with complex financial processes and fills a critical market gap for modern users seeking faster, clearer entry into investing.
