SUMMARY
Initially, my concept focused on larger actors, fashion brands, and innovative materials which further developed into a more personal investigation of the user and their closets. Through hands-on research and interviews with experts and consumers, I noticed the emphasis on fashion waste as the main concern of sustainable fashion at the moment and shifted my focus. Now, highlighting the effects of fashion waste, I decided to make an app that tracks one’s sustainability actions while also making the most of one’s current wardrobe. StyleMe bridges the gap between personal style, functionality, and eco-conscious decision-making.
challenge
Through surveys and interviews, I uncovered both gaps and opportunities, firstly through the survey I noticed a sustainable trend (93.3% of surveyed consumers would use a digital app that tracks their footprint) and circular opportunity (60% of surveyed consumers have used circular fashion initiatives). My expert interviews with fashion designers and material experts indicated that The carbon footprint of fashion is the biggest concern which emphasized that the circular model is crucial for the platform.
Outcome
Overall, StyleMe focuses on fashion waste but also personal style and integrating sustainability on a personal level. It does this by merging AI, sustainability, and digital tools. The app intends to provide users with a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to fashion, using tools to reduce the carbon footprint of personal wardrobes and a seamless digital wardrobe experience with societal and environmental impact. It addresses critical environmental concerns by promoting sustainable fashion practices. It overall helps consumers reduce waste, make thoughtful purchases, and extend the life of their clothing.
