SUMMARY
Clarity by Mikata began with a simple question: why do communication gaps persist in healthcare despite abundant data? We designed a platform that transforms patient clinician conversations into real time insight, detecting confusion and enabling proactive intervention. By reframing Mikata as an insight layer rather than a documentation tool, we created a system that improves understanding, follow through, and care outcomes, making clarity measurable, actionable, and central to better healthcare delivery.
challenge
We identified a critical gap in patient comprehension: up to 80% of information is forgotten and ~50% misunderstood after visits. Through research and system analysis, we found clinicians lack visibility into whether patients truly understand care instructions. Existing tools prioritize data capture over clarity, increasing cognitive load without improving outcomes. The opportunity was to surface misunderstanding in real time while fitting seamlessly into existing workflows without adding friction or alert fatigue.
Outcome
The project resulted in a dual interface platform: a clinician dashboard and a patient facing clarity companion. It introduces features like clarity scores, insight cards, and real time detection of communication gaps. By integrating into existing workflows, it reduces missed follow ups, improves patient comprehension, and enables earlier intervention. Positioned as a scalable, premium add on to Mikata, Clarity directly addresses both clinical inefficiencies and patient needs while creating measurable value across healthcare systems.
