SUMMARY

Miles of Colour began with a question: how can Mumbai’s striking truck art be so visible on the roads yet invisible in the art world, even as the tradition fades? Through research and conversations with artists and drivers, I uncovered a simple truth: the art is celebrated, but its creators are not. The Truck Art Studio emerged from this insight, offering artists a platform to teach and create while bringing their craft into spaces where it can finally be seen and valued.

challenge

Secondary research revealed a critical concern: although truck artists have workshops, the craft is not being passed down. Younger generations seek stable, indoor jobs, leaving the tradition at risk. Artists receive admiration for their work but little structural support. This exposed a clear opportunity to create platforms that spark public engagement, generate income, and renew interest in a disappearing Indian art form.

Outcome

The project became the Truck Art Studio, a workshop experience that places artists at the center. It gives them a stage to demonstrate their skill, teach participants, and sell their work directly. This format meets their need for recognition and economic stability while answering a growing market demand for meaningful, culturally rooted experiences. It transforms passive admiration into active support for the artists who keep this tradition alive.
