SUMMARY

I began this project wanting to give smartphones users a unique way to change their relationship with their device. Through research, interviews, and prototyping I found that digital addiction is worse than we think. Many behaviors of digital addiction mirroring that of drug and alcohol addictions. Yet solutions for this new addiction were costly and dangerous.

challenge

Phones tell you your screentime, but not the time spent offline. Other apps aimed at curing screentime are expensive, block your apps, and track unnecessary data. Users needed a steady path that gave them the time to slowly change their habits.

Outcome

The answer to the problem identified is an app that allows the user to intentionally track the time they spend off their phone. Through other features the user can complete challenges, earn badges, and add their friends. This app created a true user centric design needed to make real psychological change.
