SUMMARY
Guided Living is a new way for Tricycle: The Buddhist Review to move beyond passive content and become part of people’s daily lives. Instead of simply reading about mindfulness, users follow structured, topic-based journeys—like burnout, relationships, or purpose—that combine trusted teachings with practical, step-by-step guidance. By making Buddhist wisdom more accessible, personalized, and actionable, Guided Living helps both newcomers and experienced practitioners build meaningful habits, while allowing Tricycle to form deeper, more direct relationships with its audience in an increasingly algorithm-driven world.
challenge
We identified that users want guidance, not just content. Interviews and surveys showed low familiarity with Buddhism, but a strong need for accessible, structured support, especially for mental health (50% cited mindfulness as a need). Users also seek belonging and relatability, but current experiences feel passive and fragmented. For Tricycle, this reveals an opportunity to shift from content distribution to guided, community-driven journeys that build deeper engagement and long-term relationships.
Outcome
The project became Guided Living, a journey-based platform within Tricycle: The Buddhist Review that transforms passive reading into structured, topic-driven experiences. Users follow guided paths (e.g., burnout, purpose) combining teachings, reflection, and action. This directly addresses the need for accessible guidance, belonging, and consistency, while filling a market gap for practical, daily mindfulness tools rooted in trusted Buddhist wisdom.
