SUMMARY

My project explores why people feel overwhelmed when shopping for furniture online. I began by researching consumer behavior, market reports, and conducting a survey to understand key frustrations—especially the difficulty of visualizing furniture in one’s own space and navigating too many choices. I discovered consistent gaps in personalization and clarity. This work matters because it highlights a growing need for more intuitive, human-centered interior shopping experiences.

challenge

I identified that everyday furniture shoppers struggle with three major gaps: visualizing how products fit in their own space, navigating overwhelming choices, and finding items that match their personal style. Through surveys, market research, and journey mapping, it became clear that current tools don’t meet these needs. This reveals an opportunity for more guided, personalized, and confidence-building shopping experiences.

Outcome

The project culminated in a clear understanding of where the furniture-shopping experience breaks down: lack of visualization, overwhelming choice, and limited personalization. By mapping user journeys, synthesizing survey data, and analyzing market reports, the outcome is a defined problem space and evidence-backed opportunity area. This directly highlights where current market offerings fall short and where innovation is most needed.
