SUMMARY
I set out to help companies bridge the gap in trust between themselves and their intended audience or end consumer. I researched trust, how it shows up in decision-making, how it is obtained, and created a system in which it can be measured. I spoke with people in start-ups, founders, sales reps, marketing students, CX designers, art directors, and more to understand how trust shapes consumer expectations, influences every touchpoint, and reveals where brands fall short. These insights guided the development of a score that helps companies see their standing with consumers and take clear steps toward building lasting consumer relationships.
challenge
When there is no consumer trust, companies risk losing credibility and customer loyalty. A gap between the relationship of brand and consumer, on the basis of trust, can be caused by many things: inconsistency, inconsistency, unclear messaging, poor experiences, or a lack of transparency. Many companies don’t recognize these gaps early enough, leaving consumers uncomfortable, suspicious, and looking for a similar good or service elsewhere.
Outcome
What I’ve found is that people in the start-up space and marketers alike want and would benefit from having my tool. This tool would allow them to keep a finger on the pulse of their audience and offer trust-related, actionable, strategic insights to prevent their company from suffering a loss of consumer trust.
