SUMMARY
MyFinance is a financial well-being system designed to help young adults navigate financial lieracy and healthy money habits with clarity and emotional safety. I began by investigating why students feel overwhelmed by financial decisions, mapping their journeys, and prototyping tools that were refined through continuous testing. I learned that simplicity, personalization, and supportive guidance are what truly empower action. MyFinance matters because it transforms financial literacy from a source of anxiety into a confidence-building, sustainable practice.
challenge
I found that students felt overwhelmed, ashamed, and unsure where to start with finances, even with endless information at their fingertips. Why does a generation with more financial resources than ever still struggle to engage with money? Research revealed three key gaps: no personalized guidance, tools too complex or disconnected from real life, and no judgment-free space to learn. Journey mapping, surveys, and testing surfaced these needs and the opportunity for a more supportive financial system.
Outcome
The project culminated in MyFinance, a university-embedded platform that turns financial literacy into an accessible, personalized, and stigma-free journey toward confidence for young adults. With empathetic onboarding, simplified tools, weekly check-ins, and curated learning paths, the system meets students where they are. By creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment, MyFinance directly addresses students’ need for clarity, emotional safety, and actionable steps, bridging the gap between knowing and doing.
