SUMMARY

Parsons Student Catalogue is a digital platform designed for students to document, share, and showcase their creative work throughout their academic journey. The project began with research on student needs around visibility, exposure, and the pressure of building a portfolio. Through interviews and testing, the concept evolved into a stress-free, school-supported space where students can post projects, gain recognition, and develop their artistic identity over time.

challenge

Research revealed that Parsons students lack a consistent, school-supported space to share their work beyond senior thesis showcases. Many projects are seen only once, then forgotten, limiting exposure, creative growth, and opportunities for connection. Students also feel pressure to build professional portfolios early, despite not yet knowing their artistic direction. These gaps highlighted the need for an accessible platform where work can live, be discovered, and evolve over time.

Outcome

The project resulted in the Parsons Student Catalogue, a digital platform where students can upload, showcase, and personalize their creative work throughout their years at Parsons. It directly addresses the lack of visibility and limited portfolio support by giving students a low-pressure space to share ongoing projects, gain recognition, and explore their evolving style. The platform fills a gap in exposure, connection, and continuity that current school systems and thesis-only showcases do not provide.
