SUMMARY
Pawsapiens is a calm, all-in-one web app for pet parents and providers. I began from my experience as an international student juggling ESA rules, travel paperwork, late-night health scares, and scattered apps. Through interviews, journey mapping, and several high-fidelity prototypes, I tested at-home vets, text-a-vet, an ESA document vault, and travel checklists. I discovered that “dignified proof” and one clear screen at stressful moments reduce panic for owners and wasted time for vets. This matters because it helps young people and their animals stay together with less friction and more care.
challenge
I found that young pet parents, especially ESA owners and students, face four big gaps: fragmented care across many apps, stressful “prove your pet” moments with housing/airlines, confusing travel rules, and late-night “is this an emergency?” anxiety. Vets and walkers also lose time and income to no-shows and platform fees. I surfaced these needs through interviews, journey mapping, role-plays in lobbies and transit, and usability tests on early prototypes.
Outcome
Pawsapiens became a high-fidelity web app prototype that guides users from onboarding to a “calm dashboard” with three core flows: book at-home vets, text-a-vet with AI triage, and manage ESA proof and travel checklists in one place. A provider view supports licensed house-call vets with bookings and low-fee payouts. Each feature maps directly to observed gaps: it unifies scattered tools, reduces lobby and travel friction, and gives clear, simple next steps in stressful moments.
