SUMMARY
Storyform began with a simple question: why does everyone read differently, yet experience the same article? Through research at ELLE and interviews with readers, editors, and writers, I discovered three core reading archetypes—Skimmers, Deep Divers, and Aesthetic Readers—each with distinct needs. I designed Storyform, a platform that adapts any article to these modes with one click. This matters because it reframes digital publishing around the reader, not the format.
challenge
Readers feel overwhelmed by dense digital articles, while editors struggle to create formats that work for everyone. Current publishing tools ignore varying attention spans and learning styles. Through ethnographic observation and user interviews, I identified a major gap: readers want personalization without losing the integrity of journalism. Editors, meanwhile, want simpler tools—not extra work. The challenge was designing a system that meets both needs elegantly and efficiently.
Outcome
The final outcome is a dual-interface platform: a reader view that transforms articles into three archetypes with tailored layouts, and an editor view that generates these modes automatically. Storyform delivers clarity for Skimmers, depth for Deep Divers, and visual richness for Aesthetic Readers. For editors, it becomes a frictionless tool that increases engagement without requiring additional content creation. The result is a more intentional, human-centered reading experience.
