SUMMARY
The Parlor Project explores the invisible logistics system that powers fashion styling in New York City: a fragmented network of PR showrooms, brand offices, stylists, and assistants who rely on manual communication and unpaid labor to make fashion productions happen
challenge
How might we design a sustainable ecosystem for freelance stylists that provides consistent work opportunities, fair pay, and recognition by redefining creative labor as both valuable and viable?
Outcome
The project became The Parlor, a referral-only digital platform that connects clients with stylists through curated matching, protected payments, and structured workflow tools. This outcome directly responds to the instability stylists face late payments, inconsistent bookings, and lack of visibility, while filling a market gap for a stylist-first, trust-based system that reflects how the industry already works but with clarity, safety, and professional support.
