SUMMARY
Women have positive impacts in every industry that they are a part of especially when they are leaders there. We are experiencing a time in history where change is needed. While women are commonly seen studying fashion business, there is a lack of them in leadership positions post-grad. We are seeing this discrepancy because of lack of access to networks and opportunities to advance their career. To combat this issue, I created a decision-based interactive game that takes the player through a career in the fashion industry - taking the player through real life scenarios and experiences to prepare them for leadership.
challenge
Identified was the need for more women in leadership spaces within the fashion industry. While their perspectives and impacts are positive, women aren't in the leadership positions to foster change. The issue is not in their aspiration but in the system that will foster that which my solution will address.
Outcome
The project became something that was obtainable for the user to learn skills and advance their future career in a fun way. Targeted to girls ages 18 to 26, the game is meant to address the lack of women in positions of leadership within the fashion industry by teaching them how to navigate a career in the industry, make ethical decisions, complete industry tasks, and evolve their career. The game is structured so that the player learns about female role models, careers in fashion, and fashion and the industry of it. There is also an outside-of-game resource hub that posts internships and helpful real time tricks.
