SUMMARY
Our project, titled "SustainableStyleSociety," embarked on transforming Gen Z's heightened eco-awareness into a robust movement for sustainable fashion. We targeted the burgeoning second-hand market, leveraging social media's influence and community events to promote eco-friendly shopping. Our findings highlighted a conscious shift among consumers towards sustainability, prioritizing value, durability, and personal values. This project matters as it underscores the potential of Generation Z's preferences in steering the fashion industry towards more sustainable practices, creating a meaningful impact on environmental conservation.
challenge
We identified several needs and opportunities among our stakeholders, primarily Gen Z consumers and second-hand retailers. Consumers seek sustainable, durable fashion that aligns with their values, creating a market demand for second-hand items. Retailers require increased visibility and customer engagement. We addressed these by building an online community through social media, promoting second-hand fashion, and organizing pop-up thrift events. This strategy not only meets the eco-conscious desires of Gen Z but also boosts local and online visibility for thrift stores, driving a sustainable fashion movement.
Outcome
The project evolved into a vibrant online platform, SustainableStyleSociety, which integrates social media engagement and community-driven events to promote second-hand fashion. This platform directly addresses Gen Z’s demand for sustainable choices and supports thrift stores by enhancing their visibility and customer base. By fostering a strong community around sustainable practices, it bridges the market gap between eco-conscious consumers and available sustainable fashion options, creating a dynamic ecosystem where both consumers and retailers thrive.
